Careless Nights

So Elite
Aug 21, 2023

I remember the days of summer in the years when people respected the open window and the curtain playing with the wind at night.

Lights and voices off.

The family asleep in the heat. Fresh air circulating through the dark uninterrupted.

My grandparents left the key on the door, on the outside.

Everyone cared, no one bothered.

Now the machine will cool our air. A fabricated cool breeze recycles the air. We get cut out from the sounds of the night and the whispers of the wind.

We distance ourselves from the fairytales of darkness and nightly whispers. Isolated souls bring nightmares and we wake with a loss we know little of.
