I wish things were different
A mother stroking her daughter’s hair disentangling her own fears
Me playing with my phone
My incognito role
The dinner ladies slouch out
A viking parent parking up
Motors running, siblings stomping some try out some last minute pep talk.
I have got everything under control
While a
sun is struggling to shine
and reach pretend smiles and worked out outfits. Its outline is no longer defined.
Before we part I do impart: No matter what, put on your armour. Confidence goes a long way and you convince your body talk. Natural does it. You’ve got this! Go!
Confirmed with love. Order received. My little soldier makes me proud.
Outside we stand alone, same worries, strange looks, fake braveness, broken hopes. I sense worry in other parents.
You give me strength… I wish you knew.
My words of wisdom fall to the ground, but the thoughts travel through invisible wires.
Today you’re new.
I caught your smile. You thought I wasn’t looking. My eyes should train hawks. You will be fine.
